Plug valve is a tapper shaped device that is situated inside the valve. It is used to control the flow ofmaterial. Thetapered seat surfaces of the plug and body are not exposed to the line fluid when the valve is in the openposition, so that the effects of corrosion and erosion are confined to the less important parts of the valve.
Also, since there is a straight flow path through the valve, there is very little resistance to flow and pressure loss isminimized.Its operation is quarter turn.
